Tamilnadu is one of the states of India and it is eleventh largest state in India by area. Also seventh most state in population. Chennai is the Capital of Tamilnadu.Tamilnadu official language is Tamil, which has been in use, inscriptions and literature for over 3000 years.

History
                According to some anthropologists, the history dating back to thousands of years.  The first Dravidians of Tamil country were part of the Indus valley settlers and moved to south due to advent of Aryans around 1500 BC. The golden period for Tamilnadu is Sangam Age. Mainly three dynasties ruled over the Sangam age. They are Chera, Chola and Pandya Kingdoms. They were popularly known as Moovender. During their periods more temples were constructed.

Languages and Religious
                The principal spoken language for Tamilnadu is Tamil and it is the official language of the state. Tamil is spoken by majority of people followed by Telugu, Kannada, Urdu and Malayalam. Hinduism is followed by the majority of people. Also Christianity plays an important role in population.

Culture
                Pongal is the festival of Tamils. Pongal is celebrated for four days, the first day is Bhogi. On that day, people throw and burn the old clothes and things into fire. This is to denote the end of old and emergence of new.  Second day is the Surya Pongal, this is the main day. People prepare sweet Pongal and will offer the sweet Pongal to sun. This is to thank the sun. Third day is called as mattu Pongal. This to offer thanks to the cattle for providing milk and are used to plough the lands. Last day is known as Kaanum Pongal. On Kaanum Pongal, group of people meet in one common place and spend that day together
                Folk are the major dance for Tamils. These are performed for every occasion like birth, weddings etc. The various folk dances are Mayilattam, Oyilattam, Paraiyattam and Bommalattam. Also another major dance is Karakattam. It is performed mostly for temple festivals. Also Bharatanatyam is a classical dance which is originated from Tamilnadu.
                The most popular Tamil poetry is Tirukkural written by Thiruvalluvar. Tirukkural comprises of 1330 poems.

Tourism
                Tamilnadu is the second largest tourist places in India. The major play in tourism is Hindu temples of Dravidian architecture.  The Brihadishwara temple in Thanjavur, Sri Ramnathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, Meenakshi temple in Madurai and shore temple Mamallaburam etc are important temples in the state.
 Kanyakumari is one of the tourist spot in Tamilnadu, Where we can see sunrise and sunset y. Also we have Vivekananda Rock and Thiruvallur Statue in mid of the sea. Tamilnadu is the home for beautiful hill stations.  Most popular places are Ooty, Kodaikanal, yercaud, Coonoor etc.

Most Popular People of Tamilnadu
                Karamaveerar Kamarajar is one of most popular person in Tamilnadu. He is Ex-chief Minister of Tamilnadu. He also called as King Maker. The Scientist APJ Abdul Kalam, who is popular for his invention AGNI Missile. Also he is the EX- president of India. In sports, Viswanath Anand from Tamilnadu is the world best player in Chess. Also the Oscar award winner A.R Rahman is from Tamilnadu only.
